Eligibility Guidelines

Should I enter my film in Screen Test Local Fest, Screen Test Jr., or the International High School Competition?

Where you live and the year you are in school will determine the Screen Test event in which you should enter your film. Once you determine that, please consult with the rules and regulations to make sure your project is festival eligible.

All students submitting films to Screen Test must be in the following grades (or equivalent) as of Fall, 2020 to be considered for acceptance into the 2021 fest.


Screen Test Local Fest

  • Friday, April 16, 2021 -- 7 pm
  • Open to students who live within 30 miles of Schaumburg.
  • U.S. High School Grades 9 - 12

Note to local high school students: do not apply for for the International High School Competition. By entering your film in the local fest, you will be automatically considered for entry in the international competition. The winning film from the local fest will automatically advance to the international fest (other local films may be accepted into the international competition based on merit).


Screen Test Jr.

  • Saturday, April 17, 2021 -- 11 am (CDT - Chicago)

Screen Test Jr. is an international competition open to students in grades K - 8. While in many countries, grade levels are similarly structured to U.S. levels, there are differences. Generally, Screen Test Jr. is open to older students who have not yet entered high school (or upper-level secondary school). The table below offers a few countries with eligibility grades for Screen Test Jr. If you have any questions regarding accepted grade levels for Screen Test Jr., please email us.

Screen Test International High School Competition

  • Saturday, April 17, 2021, 7 pm (CDT - Chicago)

Note: local high school students, do NOT enter your film into the international competition (please refer to information under the Local Fest).

This event is an international competition open to all high school students from anywhere in the world. This might include upper secondary school or vocational schools for students who are not in university. The table below offers a few countries with eligibility grades for for the International High School Competition. If you have any questions regarding accepted grade levels, please email us.
