  • What is the Prairie Center?

    The Prairie Center is located at 201 Schaumburg Ct and is part of the Robert O Atcher Municipal Center. It is owned and operated by the Village of Schaumburg and staffed by the Department of Cultural Services. General Information

  • When is payment due for my rental?

    You will receive an invoice the next business day after your event. The invoice will need to be paid within 30 days of it being received.  

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    In the event of a cancellation more than 60 days prior to the reservation date, the renter's deposit will be refunded. If cancellation is made less than 60 prior to the reservation date, the renter forfeits their deposit.

  • Can my group break off and meet in areas other than the room we've rented?

    A renter's use of the building is confined to the rooms contracted for use. Lobbies and common areas are to be used for arrival and departure of attendees or audience members only. Hallways, stairwells or public areas are not to be used as rehearsal or meeting space.

  • Can I use my own technical staff?

    In general, only Prairie Center staff is permitted to run house equipment. If you are providing your own equipment, you are free to use your own operators, however some PCA technical staff will still be required, depending on the nature of the event.

    Only PCA staff is permitted on the catwalks, in the theatre booth and in certain other restricted areas.

  • Do I need to provide my own equipment?

    The Prairie Center has a large inventory of audio, lighting, and stage equipment that can satisfy the needs of most events. If you have very specific technical requirements for your event, please contact our Technical Supervisor.

  • How early can I arrive? Can I stay later if I need to?

    Your rental is limited to the areas and in & out times on your contract. If you need additional time to load in and set up, or to load out after the event, you will need to request that in advance. Any time used outside of the contracted times will be added to your final invoice.

    Participants should be informed of the contracted in time. In most cases, participants who arrive early will NOT have access to the rooms being used, and on some occasions, the building entrance doors may be locked.

  • How many tickets can I sell for my event?

    The capacity of the Maggie Atcher Theatre is 442 fixed seats plus three wheelchair seats. The lecture hall capacity is 95.

    Under no circumstances will the house be oversold. Aisles and doorways must be kept clear at all times during performances.

  • My audience is coming by bus. Where should they be dropped off?

    We ask that buses pick up and drop off passengers at the east entrance to the Prairie Center, and that any buses that will remain on site during a performance stay in the east parking lot.

  • Do you have concession or food service areas?

    In general, food and drinks are NOT permitted in the Prairie Center's Maggie Atcher Theatre. Space for concessions is available but very limited. If you plan to sell or serve food during your event, please contact us asap to make sure this will work.

  • Can I serve alcohol at my event?

    Renters who wish to serve alcoholic beverages must obtain a one-day liquor license and must observe all local laws and ordinances. To obtain and find more information about getting a liquor license please visit Village of Schaumburg Liquor License page. Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages from outside and may not leave with alcohol purchased inside the building. Management reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to any guest.

  • Do you have wifi?

    Free public wifi is always available. (SSID VOSPublic)

  • Do you have an assistive listening system?

    Assistive listening devices are available for events held in the Maggie Atcher Theatre. Please visit the Box Office or see a staff person upon your arrival to arrange for the use of an Assistive Listening Device. There is no charge for this service.

  • Can you put our event on your website?

    All rental events that are open to the public are posted on the event calendar on our home page. We will include any contact, ticket or other information you provide.
