Open to all students in grades 3 to 6, this choir trains our youngest singers. Focus is on singing technique, beginning sight-singing skills (solfege and rhythm training), unison and beginning two-part singing, and developing a life-long joy and love of singing.

Saturday, December 21 at 1pm & 5pm - Presto! Holiday Concert, Schaumburg Choral Program with the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra
Sunday, April 27 at 7pm - Spring Concert, Schaumburg Choral Program
Other performances are scheduled and announced during the season.

Teacher Recommendation. All students must have a teacher complete an online recommendation form, located at https://tinyurl.com/SCPteacherrec2024. Please forward this link to the teacher of your choice to complete and submit. If you cannot reach your teacher due to the summer break, please be sure to have your teacher submit the completed form by Monday, September 9.

For Your Audition:

Prepare a song of your choice.
At the audition, you can also be expected to be led through some vocal warm-ups, and sing "Happy Birthday" and "Frére Jacques" (no prior knowledge of these songs is necessary).

Placement is at the discretion of the directors.
All members participate in their school choral program where offered.

Tuition for 2024-25 Season
$275

Families with more than one child in Schaumburg Youth Orchestra and/or Choral Program receive a $25 discount after the first child is paid off in full.
Tuition includes a $25 family contribution to the Prairie Center Arts Foundation.
All members receive a choral program t-shirt.
Tuition assistance and installment payment plans offered.

DIRECTOR ERIN KOZAKIS

Erin Kozakis is an enthusiastic and passionate music educator and performer.She is the general music teacher and choir director at Prospect Elementary School in Hinsdale/ Clarendon Hills District 181.A strong believer that singing is the basis of all music learning, she specializes in teaching through active music-making, weaving Orff and Kodaly principles together in the classroom.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Ms. Kozakis previously taught at Hoffman School in Glenview, where she taught general music and led a choir of over 125 students, and at Franzen and Benson Schools in Itasca, IL.

Equally at home in the classroom or on the stage, Erin also serves as principal bassoonist with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with the Elgin, Rockford and Quad City Symphonies, and the Chicago Civic Orchestra.

Ms. Kozakis has specialized training in the Orff and Kodaly methods of music education, as well as children’s choral conducting and instructional technology.She holds a BM from the Eastman School of Music, a MM from DePaul University, and a MMEd from Northern Illinois University.

A native of Geneseo, IL, Ms. Kozakis currently lives in Schaumburg with her husband, Michael, and two children.She can often be found on the bike trails of Schaumburg with her family, often singing as they ride!
