OPEN REHEARSAL AND PIZZA RECEPTION

Try us out! Enjoy a pizza lunch and sing with SCA2. You'll rehearse Angels We Have Heard on High, Dhire-Dhire, and O Magnum Mysterium, and Elaine Hagenberg's Illuminare.

RSVP to attend.

SCA2, designed as an apprentice program for SCA, is open to singers ages 14-20 developing their vocal skills. Mentored by SCA members, students in SCA2 are self-motivated singers with previous choral experience who prepare and perform from the standard repertoire. High school members agree to participate in their school choir program.

Saturday, December 21 at 1 pm & 5 pm - Presto! Holiday Concert, Schaumburg Choral Program with the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra
Sunday, April 27 at 1pm- Spring Concert, Schaumburg Choral Program
Sunday, May 18, TBD - Spring Concert with the Schaumburg Choral Artists
Other area performances will be announced as added

2 WAYS TO JOIN

1. AUDITION

SCA2 is accepting auditions for the 2024-25 Season.
Audition videos are submitted while registering for the program.

For your audition

Submit a performance recording that demonstrates your vocal range and ability. Appropriate styles for this audition include art songs, arias, folk songs, hymns, or musical theatre selections. Recent recital performances are also accepted.
Record a vocal excerpt from The Rose (measures 13-30).

2. TEACHER RECOMMENDATION (no audition needed)

Students can join SCA2 through a recommendation from their choral teacher.

Tuition for 2024-2025 Season
A $150 fee includes a family donation to the Prairie Center Arts Foundation, rehearsal materials, and folders. Installment payment plans and financial assistance available.

All members receive a Schaumburg Choral Program T-Shirt.

DIRECTOR MEAGAN ZAHORA

Meagan Zahora graduated with her Bachelors in Choral Music Education from Illinois State, where she was an avid member of the ISU Madrigals, Concert Choir, and founding member of "On the Brink of Normal." She was also one of four US singers accepted into Orvieto Musica (2011) - a chamber music program in Italy. She began her first career at Morrison High School, in Morrison, IL, where she was the Director of Choral Activities for three years. In 2016, she accepted the Director of Choral Activities position at Elgin High School, and later inherited the theatre program as well, inspiring her to obtain her Masters in Theatre Directing from Roosevelt University in 2023. Ms. Zahora directed five curricular choirs, a number of musicals and straight plays, and she taught 4 curricular choirs and two theatre classes at EHS. She has also served as the Fox Valley Music Festival President, an IMEC clinician, and she continues to freelance direct theatre productions in the Chicagoland area (most recently, Big Noise Theatre's upcoming production of Freaky Friday the Musical). Ms. Zahora is also an enthusiastic performer. She is currently a part of the Schaumburg Choral Artists, and she fronts an Indie-Rock band with her partner, TJ.
